Resources Development Institution (RDI), a charitable organization based in Jorhat, Assam, aims to empower women by promoting skill development, entrepreneurship, financial awareness, and sustainable livelihood opportunities, particularly for women from rural and economically disadvantaged communities.

Women play a vital role in the development of families, communities, and the local economy. However, many women face barriers to education, vocational training, employment, access to resources, and independent income generation. Providing opportunities to develop practical skills and explore sustainable livelihoods can help women strengthen their financial independence and improve their quality of life.

Through this initiative, RDI seeks to encourage women's participation in economic activities, support self-employment, and promote a more inclusive and equitable society.

Our Objectives

• Promote Skill Development: Encourage vocational training in tailoring, handicrafts, handloom, food processing, and other locally relevant skills.

• Encourage Women's Entrepreneurship: Help women explore small businesses, home-based enterprises, and self-employment opportunities.

• Strengthen Financial Awareness: Promote awareness of budgeting, savings, responsible financial practices, and available support schemes.

• Expand Digital Literacy: Introduce women to computer skills, digital communication, online services, and digital tools for business development.

• Support Sustainable Livelihoods: Encourage income-generating activities connected with agriculture, organic farming, handicrafts, and local resources.

• Promote Leadership and Participation: Encourage women to participate in community development, decision-making, and local initiatives.

• Raise Awareness of Women's Rights: Promote awareness of equality, personal safety, legal rights, health, hygiene, and access to support services.

Planned Activities

RDI aims to organize skill development workshops, vocational training sessions, awareness programmes, and community-based livelihood activities according to local needs and available resources.

Potential activities include training in tailoring and handicrafts, guidance on starting small enterprises, digital literacy sessions, entrepreneurship awareness, financial education, and demonstrations of locally suitable income-generating activities.

The initiative may also encourage women to participate in self-help groups, cooperative activities, peer-learning networks, and community enterprises where appropriate.

Where feasible, RDI will seek to connect participants with relevant training institutions, experienced trainers, government programmes, financial literacy resources, and other organizations that support women's economic development.
